One-woman exhibition

at the VN Gallery in Zagreb

I take boxes different shapes and sizes, open them, transform them from a 3D object into a two-dimensional surface which will hold the text. Their inside I use as the walls of the house / book on which I will write. Writings in the inside of the book / house / box are left naked, unprotected with time, pages, movement of pages. Text  is visible immediately; the idea is being digested at once. I am taking away the element of time so I can see if the idea of the book will collapse or hold.

This exhibition represents just one part of my constant book explorations, physical and conceptual play which is fluid.
I perceive written words as objects. Small, big, round, flat, yellow, white, fragila, strong, cold, soft. (My) texts are just compositions of different words. They are not telling a story, they are not painting a picture.
By default, they are trying to fing a meaning.

Exhibition

in a couple of weeks, I will participate in a group show here in Zagreb.
I was asked to show my latest work, a pair of boxes, full of tiny papers (tea bags paper) with writings on them.
but, the author of the show decided the boxes will be under glass. I agreed because that is how she wanted to manipulate the viewer's reading of my work. I would never make that decision but in this case I trust her to do that.

Small book from one piece of paper

simple life event of sharing few moments with a stranger, triggers a writing and a wish to make a simple book out of one piece of paper. In this project I am still involved in playing with symmetry and serendipitous moments that happen using translucent paper.

Collaborative work

this is a book made in collaboration with a female writer. I took her written words and respond intuitively to them - binding them into a concertina made out of connected Rorschach ink blots; only black and white, in a simple black box. it will be an edition of 5, but every book will be different, unique.

Park life

without wellies, park life these days is not much fun, unless you're into proper mud.
in 2010. I started a project by the same name; the rule was to during my walks pick a person (or a couple) that for some reason or another isn't quite in sync with the scene - trees, paths, greens. the world(s) inside them seem to pour out into the world outside. I was picking the pieces that they unintentionally left behind. and made three small pamphlets.

Box &box &box

I design and make boxes in which I place loose pages of my books. I find it more exciting and more suitable for the books I create, because I need to get the viewer the freedom to explore and to connect the pages and to make spreads through his own intuitive feel.
